Multitouch Genk ultrasonic sensors
A next step in the multitouch project is attracting users to the multitouch application. This can be done by getting the attention of the user through sound and visual effects (e.g. lights). But in order to interact with the user we need a sort of measurement system. That’s where we obtained for the ultrasonic sensors. These sensors can detect objects from distances ranging from 25cm up to 6m. One sensor unit (SRF02) can communicate with a microcontroller through the I2C protocol. Using this protocol enables a modular measurement system that allows us to add more sensors without drastic changes in infrastructure. The photo below visualizes the Arduino microcontroller (left) and a couple of ultrasonic sensors (right).
